Spectrums of the Galápagos
Artist Statement
Interpreting this mysterious group of islands, Kate Ballis’ new series “Spectrums of the Galapagos” takes viewers on a journey to explore the abstraction, emotion and energy of pure colour.
The images do away with line and physical form and allow the colours themselves to become the composition, the basis for interpretation and connection. Captured using a digital SLR, Ballis worked with a mysterious acetate procured from a fashion Atelier in New York which dances with prismatic rainbows when moved against the light.
